Body Contouring
Body contouring involves re-shapes undesirable areas of your body. The two most common techniques are liposuction or a tuck procedure. Both techniques may be required. When both are required, liposuction is normally performed first.
Liposuction is considered less invasive than most tuck procedures. In my experience, Pulsed Ultrasonic Liposuction (pUAL) is the most predictable, least traumatic form of liposuction. Skin tightening after surgery often eliminates the need for the more aggressive tuck surgery.
Tucking removes areas of excess skin and underlying fat. The most common tuck procedure is a tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty. During "traditional" tummy tuck, stretched muscles are "tightened" with sutures, and excess skin is removed. Using the combination of pUAL and simple skin removal, traditional tummy tuck surgery is much less common, even if you have lost a significant amount of weight.
For most patients, treatment will normally be accomplished in a out-patient surgery center.
While liposuction and full tummy-tuck procedures can be combined, the risks of surgery may be greater than if either surgery is performed alone.
